Modern DC Wedding Venues
Washington DC is, of course, the epitome of historical elegance and classic weddings. However, there are also multiple modern wedding venues, perfect for brides and grooms looking to infuse their own personality into their wedding day.
Check out some of our favorites below:
The LINE is one of the hottest DC venues! Housed in what used to be a church many years ago, a fabulous ceiling installation of the organ pipes greets you as you enter the space. A rooftop with to-die-for views of DC, it is the perfect backdrop for your ceremony and cocktail hour. Then, welcome your guests into the modern ballroom with bamboo wood chairs and a shiny black dance floor. The LINE has a famed chef on staff to provide your guests with a delicious and unique dinner - no boring wedding chicken here!

LongView Gallery is a beautiful space right across from the Convention Center and next door to Buttercream Bakeshop (convenient for your dessert delivery!) It can accommodate a larger guest count of up to 200. With all indoor options, if having the ceremony onsite, get creative with your pipe and drape to designate the various spaces for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

Dock5 is an industrial blank slate just waiting to be fully customized for your special day. With the ability to be completely transformed, its perfect for those with a larger wedding guest count (up to 400!), and the funds to apply to its transformation. A special bonus for the newlyweds is being able to go onto the rooftop with iconic portraits with the Union Market marquee and Capitol in the background.

Easily becoming one of the most popular venues in DC, you will be hard pressed to find a Saturday available if you're not more than a year out. Thanks to its enclosed space, District Winery is the perfect year-round venue. With options to have a ceremony both indoor and outdoor, but still keeping views of the River, it's an excellent option for those having an onsite ceremony. The dining space features long wood tables, black chairs, and a delicious family style meal 200 of your favorite people are sure to enjoy.
Fathom Gallery, a smaller venue, is perfect for a more intimate wedding. It offers rare outdoor space that can be used for a ceremony or cocktail hour. Indoors, the artwork on the white walls and exposed brick provide a fantastic backdrop to your reception. If having a seated dinner, the gallery can only fit 65 guests, but if you do a cocktail style reception (which is perfect for this type of venue!), it can hold up to 125 guests. One of my favorite aspects of this venue, is that is comes with ghost chairs! (or clear lucite chairs as you might know them)

Another new winery housed in DC, just blocks from Union Market. With multiple venue spaces that can fit up to around 200 guests, this venue may be a great option for a larger wedding. Its most popular wedding space is the Wine Garden on the third level, which provides indoor and outdoor space for your wedding, and view of DC. Ivy and boxwood walls provide a funky touch. City Winery also provides the food and alcohol for the wedding, so it's perfect for those looking for more of a one-stop-shop.

Recently renovated, the W Hotel has a gorgeous black and white ballroom ready for your wedding. They also are home to the famed POV Rooftop, with perfect views of the White House and monuments. Use the rooftop for your cocktail hour, or even a welcome party or after party. Most likely, if you see a wedding from the W DC online, it is pre-renovation. Their ballroom can fit up to 250 guests for a reception. Check out the photos below to see the sleek space now!

While not for everyone, this ballroom is like no other! With an intriguing wall design and lighting system, your guests are sure to be wowed when they step into the space. This ballroom is perfect for sleek, chic, and modern wedding designs. Select an excellent designer (wink wink) and florist to really bring the space to life!
