Black-Tie Willard Wedding
This black-tie wedding at the Willard InterContinental incorporated lush greenery, blues and whites to bring the bride's vision to life. The day kicked off getting ready in the beautiful Jenny Lind Suite -- check out the tub with a view! The week of the wedding, the forecast changed to predicting rain during the afternoon. I suggested the bride order clear umbrellas, just in case it rained during their portrait time which was scheduled to occur at the Lincoln Memorial. As the bride is getting dressed, the clouds unleashed and strong storms surged through the city. We had already discussed with the bride the backup portrait plan would be at Union Station, as it provided cover from the rain with lovely architecture. After a pow wow with the photographer, it looked to be best to change course to Union Station as the forecast did not show signs of letting up. We updated the transportation and sent the couple and the wedding party on their way! After returning to the Willard, a Ketubah signing and then a touching Jewish ceremony under a dramatic floral chuppah occurred. After cocktail hour, guests moved to the Grand Ballroom for a spectacular night of dancing, thanks to Rhythm6!
