InterContinental - The Wharf Hotel Wedding
Kristen and Paul reside in DC, but would have guests traveling from around the US to celebrate with them. They fell in love with the modern ballroom in the InterContinental Wharf Hotel, and its expansive windows overlooking the water. They knew it would be the perfect place for their wedding reception. Their ceremony occurred at their local parish, Lutheran Church of the Reformation.
Kristen knew she wanted lots of greenery and fall blooms to bring her fall wedding vision to life. She selected sage green bridesmaid dresses, and kept her own dress modern and structured with an asymmetrical neckline by Pronovias, which accentuated her tall frame perfectly. Her groom Paul actually had his tuxedo tailor made while they were on a trip in Milan. The couple chose to do a first look on the hotel's balcony, and took photos with their wedding party in a nearby garden. After the ceremony, guests tossed dried florals onto the newlyweds in a fun moment! At cocktail hour, guests enjoyed signature cocktails which were adorned with edible K & P toppers. Inside the ballroom, a head table featured a lush canopy of greenery and florals and runner with a mixture of fall fruits and florals. The round dining tables had a mix of floral compotes, candles with intertwined fruits and tall "tree"-esque centerpieces. The mother of the bride surprised the couple with cold sparks that went off during their first dance, making it a perfect moment!
